Charles begun his musical journey when he was 17 on the cello. Over the years and throughout his musical education, he struggled with the comfort and playability of his instrument. Thus he wanted to learn more and help more budding musicians resolve the issues they face with their own instruments. Ultimately making sure that the instrument should not be fighting with you , instead a tool which is an extension of your body.

He was under the apprenticeship of local bowmaker , Paul Goh and studied in US under Rodney Mohr in bow restoration. He worked in a local instrument shop , Salient Strings, to restore and repair stringed instruments.
